12 August 2010
The first Class 165 Unit (unit no. 165 135) has been fitted with the new TrainFX Advanced Passenger Information System and is now fully operational and running in passenger service.
First Great Western passengers have seen a significant improvement in on-board information due to the removal of the previous obsolete system and the replacement with the TrainFX “state of the art” on-board information system.
This system is in accordance with the new European standards and provides real time information both to and from the train, enabling First Great Western the ability to communicate with passengers in real time, ensuring they are fully aware of any journey disruptions on route and on connecting routes.
The train is the first of 57 (Class 165 and 166 Turbo trains) that are to have the new passenger information system fitted. The remaining 56 trains will be fitted and in service by December 2010, operating on the London and Thames Valley routes
TrainFX Managing Director Phil Campbell said: “I am delighted to see this first unit go into service and look forward to the remaining units being completed by 2011”.
“This is an excellent ‘high profile’ reference that allows our client, their passengers and the rail sector in general, to see the benefits of our system in service operation”
