First Great Western passengers have seen a significant improvement in on-board information due to the removal of the previous obsolete system and the replacement with the TrainFX “state of the art” on-board information system.
This system is in accordance with the new European standards and will provide real time information both to and from the train, enabling First Great Western the ability to communicate with passengers in real time, ensuring they are fully aware of any journey disruptions on route and on connecting routes.
The train is the last of 57 Class 165 and 166 DMU Turbo trains (151 vehicles), which TrainFX has delivered as a total turnkey service, comprising: Design, supply, Installation and depot based technical support services.
TrainFX Managing Director Phil Campbell said: “I am delighted to see this final unit go into service and I am proud of the achievements of the project teams, for the delivery of this depot-based turnkey project, which had to be delivered at the running depot, in a limited downtime period.”
“This is an excellent ‘high profile’ reference that allows our client, their passengers and the rail sector in general, to see the benefits of our system in service operation”
