The first Arriva Trains Class 158 Unit to be fitted with the new TrainFX Advanced Passenger Information System is now fully operational and running in passenger service, providing a significant improvement in on-board information to passengers.
This system is dual language, fully complies with the new European standards and provides real time information both to and from the train, enabling Arriva Trains the ability to communicate with passengers in real time, ensuring they are fully aware of any journey disruptions on route and on connecting routes.
All 24 x 2-car units will receive a system comprising: forward and saloon displays, a fully integrated audio system, cab to cab communications, PA and automated announcements; and call for aid with crew communications.
TrainFX Managing Director Phil Campbell said: “I am delighted to see this first unit go into service and look forward to the remaining units being completed during 2011”.
"Our installed base is growing at a considerable pace in relation to customers and fleet types and and we are looking forward to a continuance of this, as more train operators get the opportunity to see the system in operation".
